Answer the call.

That stirring you feel is calling you to adventure.

It’s that deep gut feeling that that urges you to live in the beauty, simplicity, and excitement that is found on a good adventure. If you are familiar with that call, the good news is that adventure abounds!

HOWEVER
We sometimes lose our map.

As mammals with big ‘ole brains, the call to adventure gets muted. Old pain reasserts itself time and again… automatic habits and reactions crop up, or relationships repeat themselves, or anxiety staggers us, or the cold, wet blanket of depression quiets us. The promise of adventure and the excitement to answer the call slips away.

AND THEN WE FORGET

We forget the sunrise, how the wind tickles at the beach, or how the sky tastes on the mountain. We forget how Christmas lights sparkle more when you squint at them or how restful a cat can sleep.

WE FORGET ADVENTURE.

In my 15 years of experience in the mental health field, I am convinced that we forget adventure and lose the willingness to answer the call by the experiences of trauma that we have all had. And indeed, we have all had experiences of trauma. Some traumatic experiences are easy to point to and identify, while others are more insidious, silently relaying messages to a growing brain about life. The messages of trauma might sound or feel something like, “no one understands”, or “the world is not safe”, or “feelings are dangerous”, or “trust no one”.

AND THOSE MESSAGES BECOME OUR MAP.

Hello.
I’m Anna Voss.

Licensed Professional Counselor

I love my work and the honor of walking with people on their healing adventures. Adventure is a metaphor for life, relationships, mental health, or perhaps a random Tuesday. Adventures are not always great. Sometimes you might be out of gas, money, and hope, and the best you can manage is getting home. Other times, you can go and fear doesn’t encircle you, and you can feel the energy of the excitement and beauty all the way down in your toes. Life is both of these. But, ultimately, a good adventure is finding what you are looking for, right in the moment. And spoiler alert, the “what” you are looking for… is you!

I can’t wait to meet you, and until then, please look around my site and learn more about me and my work.
